NEW YORK – A Brooklyn man has won a $125,000 settlement over his arrest for recording a stop-and-frisk arrest on is cellphone.

The Daily News reports that Dick George was sitting in his car on June 14, 2012 when he saw police searching three youths.

George took out his cellphone and began taking pictures.

George told the youths to get the officers' badge numbers next time.

Court papers allege that the officers overheard his remark and violently pulled George out of his car and arrested him.

George was charged with disorderly conduct and only spent 45 minutes in custody.

The NYPD recently issued a memo reminding the entire force of the public's right to record their activities.

The move came after the phone video of Eric Garner's fatal chokehold last month.
